Equifax duplicate reporting settlement pays up to $600 from a $2.2 million fund, file by September 1, 2026
Last checked July 24, 2026
Equifax agreed to a $2.2 million fund for people whose credit reports showed the same collection account more than once. If you received an Equifax Duplicate Reporting Letter in August or September 2022, you can file for up to $600 in cash. The deadline is September 1, 2026.
The case is Bradberry v. Equifax Information Services, number 1:22-cv-04754-MLB in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. It alleged the duplicate entries dragged down credit scores. Equifax denies wrongdoing.
Filing is free on the official site. Payout is a discovery app, not a law firm, and cannot promise a specific payment.
How the payout amount is decided
The $600 is a ceiling, not a promise. Fees and costs come out of $2.2 million first, and then the remaining money is spread across valid cash claims. If enough people file, the per-person amount falls below $600. To claim cash you affirm you were harmed by the duplicate entry, for example a lower score, a declined loan, or a higher rate.
Class members who skip the cash claim automatically receive six months of Equifax Complete credit monitoring with up to $500,000 in identity theft coverage.
Who qualifies
- You got an Equifax Duplicate Reporting Letter in August or September 2022.
- You can affirm the duplicate reporting harmed you.
- You are a U.S. resident covered by Equifax reporting in the affected period.
When money arrives
The facts available do not list a final approval date. Payments follow court approval and any appeals after the September 1, 2026 deadline, which on cases this size has typically meant several months.
How to file
Find the Claim ID on your 2022 letter, go to DuplicateAccountFCRASettlement.com, complete the form with that ID, affirm the harm, and submit before September 1, 2026. Or let Payout file it for you, free.
