Comcast Xfinity data breach settlement pays $50 with no receipt, up to $10,000 with one, by September 14, 2026
Last checked July 12, 2026
Comcast agreed to a $117.5 million fund for the roughly 35 to 36 million Xfinity customers whose data was taken in an October 2023 breach. Three cash options exist: a $50 alternative payment with no proof, reimbursement of documented losses up to $10,000, or lost time at $25 per hour up to $150. Everyone in the class also gets three years of Experian IdentityWorks.
The claim deadline is September 14, 2026. Attackers exploited a Citrix software flaw between October 16 and 19, 2023, and Comcast disclosed it on December 18, 2023. The lawsuit is Hasson v. Comcast Cable Communications, and Comcast denies wrongdoing.
Filing is free on the official site. Payout is a discovery app, not a law firm, and does not guarantee eligibility or an amount.
How the payout amount is decided
The fund is non-reversionary, meaning unclaimed money does not go back to Comcast. Fees, costs, and identity protection come off the top, then claims are paid by tier.
The $50 tier is paid on your word that you received the December 2023 notice. The $10,000 tier needs receipts, bank statements, credit card bills, or invoices tied to the breach. The lost-time tier needs a short declaration describing what you did and how long it took, paid at $25 an hour. Whether the $50 moves up or down depends on how many valid claims come in against $117.5 million.
Who qualifies
- You live in the U.S. or its territories.
- Comcast sent you a breach notice around December 18, 2023, or otherwise told you your data was exposed.
When money arrives
The final approval hearing was scheduled for August 5, 2026 in Philadelphia, before the claim window closes. Payments go out after approval is final, appeals are resolved, and claims are processed, which on a fund this size has meant months after the September 14, 2026 deadline.
How to file
At ComcastBreachSettlement.com, enter the Class Member ID from your December 2023 notice. If the letter is gone, the site has a Need Help Logging In option that recovers the ID. Pick your tier, choose a payment method, submit by September 14, 2026, and save the confirmation. Or let Payout file it for you, free.
