awaiting final approval
Sony PlayStation digital games settlement, closed August 27, 2026, waiting on the October 15 hearing
Last checked August 19, 2026
Sony Interactive Entertainment agreed to pay $7,850,000 over claims that restricting retail sales of game vouchers pushed up PlayStation Store prices for certain digital games. Active PSN accounts get wallet credit automatically if the court approves. People with deactivated accounts had until August 27, 2026 to request a check instead. The case is 21-cv-03361-AMO in the Northern District of California.
The final approval hearing is scheduled for October 15, 2026. Sony denies breaking the law and the court has not found that it did.
Where it stands
Check requests closed August 27, 2026. Approval is pending, with the hearing on October 15, 2026.
No credits or checks have gone out. Nothing can before the judge rules.
When checks usually go out
The wait after a deadline runs months, not weeks. Final approval comes first, an appeal period follows, and only then does the administrator validate claims and start distribution by check, direct deposit, or prepaid card. Wallet credit can be applied in a batch once approval is final, so active accounts may see it before mailed checks reach deactivated account holders.
If you filed
Keep the confirmation number or class member ID from your filing; the administrator uses it to find your claim and fix a wrong address or payment method. Ignore any text or email offering early release for a fee. Administrators pay directly and never charge. The Payout app flags settlements while they still accept claims, which is the only stage where a filing helps. It is free on the administrator site regardless.
